Team Joint Integrity and Quality Assurance Programs |
To ensure that proper tensioning and torquing methods are applied, Team complements its field and engineering support with industry-leading Joint Integrity and Quality Assurance Programs. These programs encourage sound bolting services designed to ensure structural integrity and leak-free bolted joints. |
- All critical elements associated with bolted joint integrity are carefully controlled
- Flanged joints are inspected and restored to ANSI/API specifications
- Joints are reassembled and properly aligned using the appropriate gaskets
- Bolts and nuts are properly cleaned and lubricated
- Bolts tightened using best practices to achieve uniform bolt loading
- Approved written procedures are used to bolt joints
- Bolt tightness is verified using ultrasonic measurements

Specialty Bolt Torquing and Tensioning Services |
Hot Bolting
Team’s hot bolting service is used to free and re-tighten bolts on live piping and equipment. This specialty service is primarily employed for replacing corroded or damaged bolts and to minimize time spend removing bolts during plant shutdowns. Because hot bolting is potentially hazardous, Team’s trained and experienced technicians exercise the utmost caution when planning and carrying out any hot bolting procedure.
|
- Remove, examine, clean and lubricate each bolt for reuse
- Dispose of any damaged bolts or nuts
- Check new bolts and nuts to ensure they are to the correct piping specification
- Install and tighten bolts according to approved installation sequence
- Perform final tightness check using approved sequence for hot bolting

Nut Splitting
Exposure to extreme conditions can cause nuts to gall, corrode or become seized. Team’s Nut Splitting Service is a proven method for quickly and safely removing such nuts without causing damage to the threads. |
Stud Removal
In most cases, damaged or seized studs can be removed by Team technicians using special stud removal tools. When studs cannot be removed, Team’s Field Machining Services can drill out studs without damaging body threads. |
Turbine Bolt Heating
|
De-tensioning and tensioning of turbine bolts. Typical heating time is two to eight minutes per bolt, resulting in significant time saving for client.
|
Nut Heating
|
Fast heating of nuts on Hydro-Cracker flanges, Reactors, and Exchanger heads allow for quick dismantling of components. Typical heating time is 30 seconds to two minutes per nut. This application helps to eliminate bolt thread damage.
