Heat-Ups
The campaign life of your glass furnace greatly depends on a successful heat-up. Team can ensure a uniform heat-up with our high-velocity gas burner system equipped with an exceptional turndown ratio (100:1). Team burners run on either LPG or a natural gas supply. A uniform heat-up will eliminate the problems experienced with traditional heating methods, such as local hot-spots and differential expansion in the furnace walls and crown. Team places the furnace under a slight positive pressure allowing for an even distribution of heat throughout the structure.
Expansion/Contraction Control Supervision
As the furnace is heated/cooled, it is important to monitor the furnace expansion so that the binding steelwork can be adjusted accordingly. Failure to do so will shorten the furnace’s campaign life. Team can monitor the furnace expansion and instruct plant staff of necessary physical adjustments to the furnace’s binding steelwork.
Cullet Filling
After the heat-up is complete, Team can re-introduce cullet back into the furnace evenly with our water-cooled Cullet Distribution System.
Glass Draining Services
Prior to rebuild, Team can remove your molten glass from the furnace to an agreed to disposal/catchment location using our state-of-the-art hydraulic system. The sintered glass can then be used as cullet when the furnace is ready to be put back into service.
Controlled Cool-down
If only part of the furnace needs repair, it is important to preserve the bulk of the refractory brick in optimum condition. The best way to do this is to cool the furnace down under controlled conditions. The Team high-velocity burner system is ideally suited for the cool down. When the furnace temperature has been lowered to approximately 2000ºF (1,100°C), Team burners will take over from the furnace burners reducing the temperature to a predetermined schedule. Below 200ºF the burner is switched off and the combustion air is left running in order to further cool the furnace to ambient temperature.
Furnace Hold Hot Maintenance
Team can hold your furnace hot while maintenance is performed on burners, checker replacement, and regenerators as well as general furnace maintenance.
Sulphate/Borate Burn-Outs
Often sulphate deposits cause a blockage in the regenerator checker-work. The Team high- velocity burner system, carefully controlled, is capable of melting these sulphate deposits without causing fluxing of the rider arches.
