Team's patented high temperature, high pressure (HTHP) Hi-Stops® are used primarily to solve maintenance and engineering problems where operating conditions exceed conventional line stop ranges.
Team's Hi-Stops® can be used to isolate pipes from 1/2" to 16" in size, with temperatures to 1200oF (649oC) and pressures to 2600 psig (179 Bar).
Team has successfully stopped a 6" boiler feedwater line leaking water at the rate of 1650 gpm and flowing at a velocity of 22 ft/sec. Pressure was 2100 psig at 400oF. The company stopped another 6" boiler feedwater line a 2300 psig and 350oF.
Team's advanced Hi-Stop® methods utilize patented techniques and equipment such as the metal-to-metal seal between the plug and the line.
Basic engineering techniques applied to the Team Hi-Stop® includes (A) the installation and pressure testing of a special Hi-Stop® fitting welded to the pipe, the installation of the valve, and the (B) precision cutting and reaming operation to make a tapered hole through the pipe. The pipe is then plugged (C) with a precision-ground, tapered steel plug that provides the seal to the pipe. This permits the depressuring of the system for the necessary maintenance or project work. A completion plug (D) with metal-to-metal seal and O-ring backup to permit HTHP operations is installed in the flange, thus allowing removal of the service valve and completion of the job.
