High purity, brush-on, leak sealing, gasket coating and thread sealant compounds available to plants
Products are designed to stop HTHP leaks, help prevent IGSCC problems.
A family of high purity, easily applied thread sealants and gasket coating compounds -- designed to stop high temperature, high pressure (HTHP) leaks without contributing to inter-granular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) -- is being utilized by plants.
Called Hi-Pro Seal®, the product line was developed based on requests from industry users specifying the required properties for the sealants.
Specifically, plants asked for a HTHP sealant that met the following criteria:
- Have the ability to handle temperature and pressure fluctuations as well as vibrations
- Have a low heavy metal content
- Not bond strongly to metallic components for ease of disassembly
- Be thermally stable
- Be impervious to process fluids and gasses
- Be easy to apply
Typical applications include leaking screwed connections on hydrogen or hydrocarbon lines in process units, on steam and hot boiler water lines, leaks at pressure seal valve bonnets, and turbine split line leaks.
To prevent leaks, Hi-Pro Seal® is used, for example, to coat flange faces and seal rings during plant preventative maintenance programs, scheduled turnarounds, and outages.
The product line is especially suited for long-term stainless steel applications, and will not promote corrosion or IGSCC.
The Hi-Pro Seal® product line was developed after extensive research and testing by Team, Inc., a world leader in leak repair technology and techniques.
